I just wanted to re-post the 5 main issues that our class is attempting to address:
1) Information is trapped in email or on hard-drives instead of shared.
2) Groups cannot communicate easily - many groups focused on the same topic don't know of others working on the same issues.
3) There is little or no incentive to share information.
4) There's no effective way to easily find expertise.
5) Some groups don't feel part of the company because they are geographically or otherwise separated.

Kelly's 5 Questions
1. How will we focus the scope to cater towards people at P&G?
2. How will the personalization of individual accounts be handled for people in a business environment?
3. Will it be mandatory for all employees, even those who have no interest?
4. Will there be any incentives or rewards given to those people who use the site and share great ideas that will help out other teams?
5. How would the integration of the different components be implemented in such a way as to make the interface intuitive and not overwhelming?

1. How separate should work information be from personal information? What is the main focus?
2. If both personal and work information in the profile, what percentage of page space is allotted to each?
3. Is each page customizable or is it one uniform template?
4. Will it have its own messaging system, or will people communicate through email? Will you be able to indicate the importance of the message you are sending? Will you be able to send files with your message?
5. Is this a way to replace internal emailing within the company?
6. Would a chat-room-like feature, that could act as a conference call, be beneficial. Should it just be text or should video be involved as well?
5 Questions..
1. Will this be able to be accessed by all employees at any time and from anywhere not just from a work computer?
2. How much of the site will lead to social networking? Will the company limit this so not too much time will be 'wasted' on making social connections instead of focusing on the task at at? Or is it important for employees to connect to each other from different parts of the country and the world and the company would allow for networking time and promote it?
3. Have a place where employees can post or blog about certain topics at hand? Say for web designers, they could post interesting sites they have found that are useful or have an interesting perspective on design.
4. How will employees be able to access other parts of the company to find experts in the field? Will employees be willing to offer their services over the network when they work for a different division or different part of the world?
5. Will there be a chat option to be able to talk to someone quickly instead of waiting for a reply on an email or hitting a language barrier? How will that be regulated?

Five Questions

2. If an employee "crosses the line" with something they say, post, upload, or hint at are they subject to the same rules and guidelines of things said within the office?
3. If employees are encouraged to use the network, encouraged to keep their profiles updated, encouraged to get to know other employees through the network - how discouraged are they if they spend a decent amount of time on the site?
4. Will the work related idea sharing system replace emails? Or will this be an additional step for employees to share information?
5. Will current management have to take on the additional task of monitoring/moderating what being posted or will additional Staff be brought on for this responsibility?
